Care for a Glass of Fat?A New York City public health service announcement warns that soda's excess calories can quickly lead to extra pounds.
YouTube | M.E. Pegs | A new public service announcement is raising some eyebrows in New York these days. On the cusp of creating a "soda-tax", this video spot is airing, and is creating some controversy... mainly because of it's fairly digusting visuals.
New York City Health Commisionner believes that its the only way to grab people's attention in an ever jaded population, and he's pleased with the results.
According to the spot, One soda a day and add an additional 10 lbs. of weight over the course of a year.
The American Beverage Association is, naturally, hopping mad and have released this statement: "If the goal is to reduce obesity among New Yorkers, then this public education campaign should be based in fact, not simply sensationalized video that inaccurately portrays our industry's products -- products that are fat-free."
They go on to claim that there are low-calorie and no-calorie beverage options. Of course, they do not address the the sugar content nor the aspartame content of any of their products.
