Wondering Why We Are Not Calling This Product "Natural" Anymore? When we introduced our phospahte-free and chlorine-free Automatic Dishwashing Powder we knew there were two ingredients that were not naturally derived . One was a petroleum-based surfactant and the other a petroleum-based, non-toxic polymer. We felt then, and now, that the environmental advantages of a phosphate-free and chlorine-free autodish product outweighed the disadvantage of including a petroleum-derived ingredient.
In 2004 we changed the surfactant and the polymer to what we believed were Natural (plant-derived) alternatives. After packaging was printed, we learned that the non-toxic polymer, in fact, was not replaced by a Natural ingredient. We also learned that the non-toxic polymer is not readily biodegradable. Therefore, we had to remove these claims from our package. We also changed the "No petroleum-derived ingredients" claim to "No petroleum derived cleaners" to acknowledge that the new surfactant is plant-derived although the non-toxic polymer is not.
We have been working hard on replacing the non-toxic polymer and restoring our Natural and Biodegradable claims. We need to ensure that the excellent product performance is maintained and have gone through several formulations trying to maintain performance while using more natural and biodegradable ingredients. Once we are able to do this, we will again add these claims back on our packaging. We apologize for the confusion.

This phosphate and chlorine free product helps reduce the risk of harm to our lakes and ponds and keep chlorine's dangers out of the environment.
What are phosphates? Phosphates are used in automatic dishwashing detergents to soften water. Phosphates can cause algae blooms in lakes and ponds that can lead to the suffocation of aquatic plants and animals.
Why is chlorine bleaching dangerous? The production and use of chlorine bleach creates dangerous toxins such as dioxin, furans and other organochlorines. Once loose in the environment, these chemicals accululate in both people and animals. Hundrends of studies have shown a direct link between dioxin exposure and cancer, birth defects and development and reproductive disorders.
Our Free & Clear aurtomatic dishwasher detergent gets dishes sparkling clean yet is gentle on the Earth. Unlike conventional automatic dishwasher detergents with chlorine, ours won't create chlorine fumes that may be irritating to breathe especially for people with allergies or asthma.

Water softeners (sodium carbonate, citric acid), Cleaning and water spot prevention agents (alkoxylated linear alcohol, non-toxic polymers), China and dishwasher protection agent (sodium silicate), Processing and flow aids (sodium chloride [a natural salt], sodium sulfate), Multiple soil/stain removers (sodium percarbonate, non animal-derived enzymes).

Water softeners (sodium carbonate, citric acid), cleaning and water spot prevention agents (coconut based surfactant, non-toxic polymers), china and dishwasher protection agent (sodium silicate) processing and flow aids (sodium chloride [a natural salt], sodium sulfate), multiple soil/stain removers (sodium perborate, non-animal derived enzymes).
Directions:
Load dishes with soiled surfaces facing spray (do not block spray to top rack). FILL DISPENSER CUPS COMPLETELY FOR HARD WATER OR HEAVILY SOILED LOADS. USE LESS FOR SOFT WATER OR LIGHT LOADS. A rinse aid is recommended for very hard water. Separate silver, aluminum, and stainless steel to avoid damage. Follow china manufacturer's instructions to make sure items are dishwasher safe. Washing full loads conserves water.
Warnings:
Keep out of reach of children. In case of eye contact, flush with water for at least 15 minutes. If swallowed, drink a glassful of water. Contact a physician.
