Almonds and honey have been favorites of the gods since time began. At Sweet Home Farm we've brought this immortal combo home as a heavenly tasting, natural breakfast cereal. Delicately toasted whole grains combine with crunchy almonds and luscious honey for an enchanting fiber-rich start to the day. Whole grains also provide important nutrients like folic acid, magnesium, and vitamin E while nutritious almonds help sustain energy and are a source of Omega-3 fatty acids. Using ingredients grown and made without GMOs, and with NO preservatives, artificial flavors or colors, this granola is perfect - the way the gods intended.

   The Story of Granola
  Fact IS stranger than fiction!
In the mid-1800's, Dr. Sylvester Graham, of Graham Cracker fame, promoted his wholegrain wheat flour bread for its high nutritional value. Shortly after, Dr. James Jackson created the world's first breakfast cereal by baking the graham flour into dense wholegrain nuggets - dubbed "Granula" - that had to be soaked overnight to be edible. Enter Dr. John Harvey Kellogg who, in 1876, created his own version of granula, which he called "Granola". Then Charles W. Post got into the act with a similar formula known as "Grape Nuts."
The popularity of granola soon waned, to be revived nearly 100 years later along with a renewed interest in wholegrain food. That's when we dished out fifty bucks for baking equipment and a secret granola recipe. Today, Sweet Home Farm offers the simple wholesome goodness of all natural granola in four delicious varieties. Whole Rolled Oats, Milled Cane Sugar, Whole Rolled Wheat, Vegetable Oil (canola and/or safflower and/or sunflower oil), Coconut, Honey, Almonds, Molasses, Natural Flavor, Salt, Organic Cardamom Seed, Organic Fennel Seed, Organic Fenugreek Seed, Organic Nutmeg.

Dreamy Honey Nut Cookies

1 cup butter (softened)
3/4 cup natural cane sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup water
2/3 cup oatmeal
1 cup Honey Nut Granola
2 cups unbleached white flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

Cream together butter, sugar, maple syrup and vanilla. Mix in water, then stir in dry ingredients. Drop by tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes.

Makes 2 dozen cookies.
